Before and After School Explorer (BASE)

BASE is Westlake Charter School's before and after school enrichment program that provides working parents an opportunity to have their children arrive early and stay later than school hours. It is on-campus and open from 7am - 6pm on most weekdays.

Summer Session

Join us for the FUN!!
Our summer session begins on June 17th, 2013 and runs until August 9th, 2013 (STAR Academy runs through August 16th). We are open 7am-6pm M-F. Summer rates are $6.00/hour with a daily cap of $36.00. The registration fees are $30.00/family. These fees and a fully completed registration packet are due at least 24 hours before the first day of attendance."

Themes and Activities

Join Us As We Travel Across the United States on Summer Vacation!

Our weekly themes are:

• June 17th-21st: Sailing the Seas- We will explore our beaches and learn about different sea creatures indigenous to the U.S.
• June 24th-28th: America's Beginnings - We will learn about historical places and people and will be writing our own Constitution.
• July 1st-5th: East Coast Excursion - CLOSED JULY 4TH We will visit New York, Florida, and many places in between.
• July 8th-12th: Wandering the West Coast - We will visit many places along the West Coast, focusing on our own home state.
• July 15th-19th: Walk on the Wild Side - This week we will learn about animals and plants that are indigenous to the U.S.
• July 22nd-26th: Navigating the Northern States - We will be visiting Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone Park, and others.
• July 29th- Aug 2nd: Seeing the Sights in the Southern States - We will explore Texas, New Orleans and more.
• Aug 5th-9th: Rolling Along Route 66. We will travel along Route 66, stopping at various tourist attractions.
• Aug 12th-16th: Moving Across the Mid West. We will visit the Great Plains and learn a little about the automotive industry.

Each student will also participate in the following enrichment hour each week:
Mondays: Spanish Cultures
Tuesdays: Science
Wednesdays: Fun With Food
Thursdays: Music and Dance

Monday through Thursday also include sports, art, and an hour of reading and math games.

Fridays are FUN Days! There will be various water play days, trips to the park and PARTIES!!!

Tentative Party dates include: June 21st- Summer Kick Off, July 3rd- Fourth of July Party, July 19th- Fun in the Sun, and August 9th- End of Summer Party. All parties include a potluck. BASE provides the main dish and we ask that our families help with the sides.

A morning and afternoon snack are provided. Students need to bring their own lunch everyday with the exception of Party days. Lunches must not require refrigeration or heating. Please review our registration packet for more detailed billing information. Packets are available at both our East Commerce and Del Paso campuses.
