Ms. Burwinkle Wins "Dough"
& Best Buy Grant

Congratulations to Kate Burwinkel for winning the Panera "Dough for Teachers" Contest. She was awarded with a $1000 prize for school supplies. On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Kindergarteners received bagels and the staff was treated to a fabulous lunch. That evening at 5pm, Panera hosted a little reception to honor Kate. This amazing teacher also just won the Best Buy Te@ch™ grant and will be awarded $10,000. She will be presented the award at the March 4th Board meeting.

A Night in Natomas
Silent & Live Auction

Saturday, June 7th, 2008
On June 7th, from 6-10pm we will take the auction to another level, as its own event, "Westlake Charter Presents a Night in Natomas." Our vision is a wonderful night out for parents, family, and friends to eat and drink from local Natomas restaurants while shopping the many items and services that our Westlake parents and community members have donated for auction.

About Westlake Charter School

Westlake Charter School is a new public elementary school created by parents and educators in the Natomas area. We opened on September  2005, serving grades K-2, and will expand each year to serve higher grades.

WCS is the first school to offer the International Primary Curriculum in the Sacramento region. WCS's curriculum focus on diversity and appreciation of different cultures, while promoting academic excellence and foreign language acquisition.

WCS's primary mission is to prepare elementary students with the skills necessary for life-long learning by providing a physically and emotionally safe learning environment that supports academic risk-taking, invites student participation and structures cooperative learning experiences.
