A Couple More Q&A's About Our Valentine's Party, Prom Night 1988
Event Info Page
1. Why a "prom" - what was wrong with the auction?
Nothing was wrong with the auction. Last year, our auction chairs, Tami and Tracy created an amazing event,
but it was a huge time commitment for them and their committee to make successful. Also, some of the components
of an auction make it an expensive event to arrange. With the current economy, we saw a smaller profit making
the huge amount of work and expense necessary to make an auction successful, a less attractive option.
An 80's Prom theme was an idea that we came up with to try to find a fun, party hook to bring in people from inside
and outside the Westlake Community.
2. Why Valentine's Day? Why before our vacation?
We are extremely lucky that Four Points by Sheraton, Sacramento International Airport
(on the corner of Del Paso and El Centro) has agreed to allow us to use their ballroom for free! However, they want
our event to be a huge publicity, marketing event for their hotel and the new ballrooms. They wanted to do it as soon
as possible and would have been happier if we could have done something in November or December! Valentine's Day is a
Sunday so the room is open and it is already a night that many people spend money for a fun evening out. We are hoping
that they will choose our fun evening out. It also serves as a handy pre-packaged night out for many of our couples who
struggle with planning the perfect Valentine's Day. It will be advertised as a "Four Point's Event to benefit Westlake"
in the hopes of attracting a broader pool of attendees.
3. What is the greatest area of need right now to make this event a success?
We are currently looking for event sponsors who can help offset the cost of the event with monetary or in-kind donations. We will have three sponsorship levels for donors.
- Silver Sponsor: A food or beverage or service or monetary donation of $250 or less will receive a ¼ page ad in the event program and the event slide show.
- Gold Sponsor: A food or beverage or service or monetary donation of $251-$999 will receive a ½ page ad in the event program and the event slide show and will receive two free tickets to the event.
- Platinum Sponsor: A food or beverage or service or monetary donation of $1000 or more will receive a full page ad in the event program and the event slide show and will receive two free tickets to the event.
All sponsors will be featured on our website.
4. Do attendees have to dress up? Wear a tux?
Absolutely not - the evening will have an 80's theme so we are hopeful that attendees will come wearing
fun 80's wear, but formal wear is not required.
Please join the "Prom Committee" - our next meeting will
be Monday, December 30th at 6:30 p.m. at Panera Bread 2731 Del Paso Road.
For questions or to R.S.V.P. for the meeting, please contact Lisa Corr at
lcorr@mymlaw.com. Even if you cannot
make the meeting, if you want to help, please contact Lisa Corr, there are
lots of volunteer opportunities that can be done without attending meetings.
5. How can I buy my tickets?
Either by emailing lcorr@mymlaw.com, purchasing at the Westlake Charter School office, or online via
PAYPAL.
6. How many tickets will be sold?
We are hoping to sell 400 tickets.
7. What about childcare? Corsages, boutonnieres? My hair style?
Kookaburra Kids has agreed to offer childcare for the evening, with proceeds going to WCS. Flowers by Susan has agreed to sell corsages and boutonnieres with proceeds to go to WCS. The Kevin Michael Salon has also agreed to style hair that day for the Prom with all proceeds going to WCS. Information on all these sponsors will be coming your way soon!
